Hello! Today’s card was forming in my head as soon as I saw the Bokeh Dots stamp set in the new 2018-2019 Annual Catalog.
I think the mermaid in Magical Mermaid is beautiful and I thought this Bokeh Dots stamp was the perfect backdrop.
To be honest I was a bit disappointed when I saw how small the stamps were. I knew they weren’t background stamps, but I did think they were bigger. They are about 2″ x 3″. These are using the new DistINKtive process and I heard they made the stamps to fit on a stamp pad so you don’t get lines from the edge of the stamp pad. I think these Bokeh Dots stamps are very pretty so I’ll get over the size.
TIP: You don’t want to use these with a really juicy stamp pad. I think these work best with a stamp pad that is a bit drier, but not really dry. Most of my new stamp pads were pretty juicy but I was able to mitigate that with the spoon method – take a plastic spoon and firmly rub the back of the spoon back and forth across the pad, pushing the ink down and out.
The mermaid is bigger than the stamp but I still really like how it looks! And the pearls added the perfect finishing touch.
TIP: I used my Stamparatus to stamp the Bokeh Dots. I didn’t do a perfect job of centering the stamp, but I wasn’t really trying – I was just playing when I stamped this. I think the Stamparatus is great for this, and then you can easily make duplicates!
Thanks for stopping by!
