I was very busy in my craft room this past weekend. I will be on a business trip in Miami this week so I needed to get some projects done and posts scheduled for while I am away. Today’s card is the first project I tackled – a birthday card for my brother.
So I didn’t really make my brother two cards, but when making cards I often make two – one to send and one for my stash. My plan was to make two plaid cards, but when I flipped the paper over to apply adhesive, I saw the deer pattern and really liked it too. So I made one of each – same design, different patterns!
I decided to use paper from the holiday Designer Series Paper packs because I wanted to go with a woodsy theme and those packs have some plaid and wood patterns. The plaid/deer paper is from Under the Mistletoe DSP in the 2018-2019 Annual Catalog and the wood paper is from the Country Lane DSP in the 2018 Holiday Catalog.
Which card do you like better?
The deer card?
or the plaid card?
Even though these are meant to be masculine cards, I decided they needed a little something extra so I grabbed the Leaf punch and some Gold Foil. Then I found this green glimmer paper from the retired Myths & Magic glimmer pack. I thought it looked similar to Old Olive and I punched out some more leaves. Oh my! I didn’t realize what happens when you punch into glimmer paper. Glimmer bits everywhere! So funny!
I chose sentiments from the Picture Perfect Birthday stamp set for the front and inside of the cards.
Ultimately, I decided to send the deer card to my brother. That’s the way things roll in my craft room – things don’t always turn out the way I originally intended, but I’m always happy with the results (well almost always ;-))!
Thanks for stopping by!
